The best jersey tank top does not look cheap. That is the whole argument for this category. A well cut tank in a good weight jersey sits flat against the body, holds its shape after washing, and layers under a blazer or over wide trousers without looking like an afterthought. The problem is that most of them do look cheap, too thin, too short, neckline that goes strange after two wears. Finding the ones that avoid all of that at a sensible price is genuinely harder than it should be.

We have been through a lot of options to build this edit. What we kept coming back to were the tanks with a proper weight to the fabric, a neckline that stays put, and enough length to tuck in properly without bunching. Some are brilliant basics you will reach for constantly. Some have small details, a ribbed finish, a slightly scooped back, that lift them above purely functional.

None of these are expensive. All of them look like they could be. That is a harder thing to achieve than the price tag suggests.
