Most hoodies either pill after three washes or sit so stiff on your shoulders they ruin whatever is underneath. We’ve never had much patience for either. A genuinely heavyweight hoodie should feel substantial the moment you put it on, the kind of weight that has structure without making you look twice your actual size when you wear it over a fitted top or under a longline coat. That balance is harder to find than it should be.

What we looked for here was gsm that actually means something, cuts that sit close enough through the body to layer cleanly, and fabric that holds its shape after real use. No boxy sacks. No thin cotton passing itself off as premium. These are hoodies that work as a proper layer for the cooler months and still look considered rather than thrown on.

Colour matters too. We’ve favoured the tones that sit well against outerwear and don’t fight with the rest of an outfit. Oatmeal, slate, deep navy, a very good off white.

A heavyweight hoodie done properly is not casual dressing. It is the foundation of it.
