Done well, they create volume in exactly the right place, soften the hip line without swamping it, and give a skirt genuine movement that a flat front simply cannot replicate. Denim makes the whole thing feel grounded. Not precious, not overly dressed up, just genuinely wearable in a way that earns its place in daily rotation.

What we look for is the cut that sits correctly at the waist, pleats that lie flat rather than pulling, and a length that works for real life rather than a lookbook. Mid length is the sweet spot for most people. It photographs well, it layers well, and it looks considered without requiring much effort at all from the wearer.
